Match Report
Royal Hospital School Boys-U12A vs  Orwell Park School
On: Wednesday, 20 Sep 2017
Venue: Away

The U12A made the relatively short trip to Orwell Park School. Having eventually found the correct pitch the boys took to the field after a much shorter warm up than intended. However their enthusiasm levels were high and a good contest got underway. Despite some spirited tackling Orwell Park scored two tries in relatively quick succession and the situation looked ominous for RHS. But commeth the hour, commeth the U12A players! They played with real determination and their hard work was rewarded after some good passing which saw Barnaby Morton receive the ball wide out on the left and he broke a number of tackles before speeding away to score.

The second half was an exciting encounter as momentum ebbed and flowed between the two sides. Orwell Park passed the ball fluently but the RHS defence was equal to the task as tackle after tackle was made. With RHS now starting to take control some strong work by the forwards allowed the backs quick ball and good hands allowed Jaspar Dawson space and his break and well timed pass saw Tom Raeckelboom outpace the defence to score the second try for RHS. With time almost up Tom weaved his way over the line to touch down again but alas the referee was unsighted so the try was not given. Moments later the final whistle was blown with RHS pressing for the winning score - but it was honours even after a very enjoyable game.

The boys deserve much credit for the way they played and for the progress they made even in the space of the match. Samuel Windridge also deserves a mention for his dominant display.
